4@DMAE'2016 Small on-ground synthetic aperture radar (SAR)

project type: classic

edition: 2016

number of students in project 3 - 5

manager: MEng Karol Abratkiewicz

The aim of the project
is to design and implement a simple FMCW
radar in the 2.4 GHz band enabling the measurement of distance, speed and imaging using synthetic
aperture SAR. The SAR imaging will be implemented by moving the radar head on a rail
of approx. 2 m. The individual functional RF blocks of the radar's transceiver
(TxRx) will be designed and implemented by the  students,
but also ready functional modules of the type of mixer, amplifier can be used, depending on the
degree of complexity. The baseband signal is discretized
and processed entirety on a PC. The project also includes the development of software to
process this signal and visualization of results. It is recommended to use the
high-level programming environments such as Matlab, Python.
